Tucson's GE-powered jets

Feel free to discuss anything here - as long as it is F-16 related.

It's been a while since I've been on here, so I'm kinda behind the curve. :wink: While perusing several plane spotter sites I noticed a handful of Tucson jets with GE engines. Apparently they've been around for a couple of years. I've ever only known Tucson to fly P&Ws and have never seen an AZ jet with a GE engine. Examples are:

87-0300 (photo by Victor Vaschenko via Planespotters.net)
87-0258 (photo by Demo Borstell via Planespotters.net)
85-1552 (photo by Demo Borstell via Planespotters.net).

Was this to support certain foreign customers eventually getting GE's in their jets? AATC projects? . They're nice additions I must say. Just curious tho.

I would expect this to be in support of the AATC, as more and more ANG-AFRC units take on GE engineed jets. They have flown several D models aswell, but mostly on part-time assignments. Seems they now get their own jets.
Nice pics btw.

It looks like the 195th is picking up all the Block 30s from Wisconsin and Alabama. With a few small mouths that are left.

The 195FS has received quite a few block 30's;
85-1552
86-0302
86-0350
86-0355
87-0300
87-0349
Hence these replace the older block 32's that was sent to VFC-13

The 152FS retains the block 42's.
