I started out my F16 experience at MacDill in the 56TTW as part of Rivet Workforce in '88. I was originally a Pneudraulics Mechanic on F15s in the Guard, and went active in '88. I soon found myself out there on the flightline in Tampa crewing the best fighter jets the Air Force had!!! My time there was too short. After a couple years, I found myself stationed at Torrejon, Spain. Desert Storm geared up, and soon after I found myself deactivating the 612th, 613th, and 614th. My follow-on was to Homestead AFB. A guy I met in Spain, Scott Stutler, was my sponsor, and helped me get situated down there. We both spent a lot of time on "mids" taking care of all the squadron's servicing. I received a call from a guy from TJ named Joe Lario, informing me about one of my home town reserve units converting from A10s to the F16, and he suggested I come look into an Air Reserve Technician (ART) job. So I made the transition to the Civil Service as part of the 926th FW. I crewed their F16s for a couple years, and went on a bunch of great TDYs with them, including Aviano AB where we flew missions over Bosnia. The unit found themselves on the chopping block, but was saved by converting back to the A10 in 1995. But, I found myself being crosstrained to Electro Environmental. It proved to be a good move for me, because I was able to make MSgt in 2000, and become the NCOIC of their flightline electricians. I've been to Incirlick, Turkey with them twice, Al Jabar, Kuwait 3 times, and Bagram, Afghanistan twice. Guys, I have to say I didn't like making the transition to the A10, but I've enjoyed working on it, and loved being deployed into real world situations with that jet! The 926th met their fate by the BRAC of 2005, and I now am an electrician with the 159th Air National Guard on F15 A,B,C, and Ds.
