Flew a stint in the airlift role as the 303rd Tactical Airlift Squadron in 1985 and re-designated 303rd Airlift Squadron in 1992. Back to the rescue role in 1997 as the 303rd Rescue Squadron. Disbanded in 2003 but later reactivated with the KC-135.

A year and a month later to the day, the squadron reactivated with the HH-60 Pave Hawk at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona.

Originally activated under the 463rd TAW at Clark AB up to October 15, 1971 and wore the QG tail code. Reactivated at Dyess AFB, Texas with the C-130E on June 1, 1972. Wore the DB tail code from activation at Dyess AFB till around 1974 when control switched over from TAC to MAC. Last C-130E left Dyess AFB when deactivated in 1993. Switched commands again, this time to the Reserves on April 1, 1995 at Youngstown-Warren Air Reserve Station with the C-130H, Merged into the 757th Airlift Squadron and deactivated on March 31, 2014.
