Bangladesh Air Force receives 3rd C-130J aircraft

September 17, 2020 (by Asif Shamim) - The third C-130J aircraft arrived at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu in Dhaka on Thursday after a successful ferry flight from the United Kingdom by BAF aircrew.

Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, and British High Commissioner in Dhaka Robert Chatterton Dickson were present on the occasion, said the official press release.

Later, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar briefed the media personnel.

The mission was led by Group Captain Md Ahsanur Rahman, of Bangladesh Air Force. The aircraft transited via Cairo and Muscat before arriving in Bangladesh.

The 2 remaining C-130J's will arrive in due course. The aircraft were purchased as part of modernisation program under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the present government.

The inclusion of these aircraft in BAF inventory will enhance the transport and operational capability of BAF as a whole.

Under the initiative, the government has taken steps to buy five Ex-RAF C-130J aircraft through a Government to Government agreement.
