USMC KC-130J and F-35B collide over California

A USMC KC-130J #166765 and F-35B from VMFA-121 collided during a refueling exercise around 16:00hrs local time over Southern California. The F-35 crashed near Naval Air Facility El Centro and the KC-130 made a forced landing in a farm field near the airport in Thermal. All the aircrew survived.

First KC-130J delivered to USMC's reserve squadron at Stewart ANGB

Lockheed Martin recently delivered the first KC-130J Super Hercules tanker assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 452 (VMGR-452), the Marine Forces Reserve squadron at Stewart Air National Guard Base, New York. A U.S. Marine Corps crew ferried the aircraft from Lockheed Martin’s facility on May 28 to the aircraft’s new home.

Propeller blade responsible for 2017 KC-130 crash that killed 16 service members

Investigators say bad maintenance practices at a Georgia air force base missed a deteriorating propeller blade that broke off six years later as a U.S. Marine Corps transport plane cruised over Mississippi at 20,000 feet, causing the KC-130T to break into pieces and plunge into a soybean field, killing 15 Marines and a Navy corpsman.

A USMC KC-130T from VMGR-452 crashed in the state of Mississippi on Monday at approximately 16:00hrs CDT near the Sunflower-Leflore county line about 85 miles North of Jackson, claiming the lives of 16 service members.
