Nov 01, 2019 - The 920th Rescue Wing is celebrating the legacy of its HC-130P/N combat-rescue fleet as the wing expects to receive a replacement fleet of HC-130J in the Spring of 2020. This new airframe will not only replace the legacy HC-130 fleet but with its arrival also comes the elimination of two aviation career fields: Flight Engineer and Airborne Mission Systems Specialist. Aug 09, 2017 - The 920th Rescue Wing commander, Col. Kurt Matthews, and members of a hand-selected aircrew flew the wing’s last HC-130N King, Aug. 7 from Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, to be decommissioned. Rescue airmen save two German citizens stranded at sea
Maj. Chris Ferrara, a HC-130P/N "King" co-pilot, operates his aircraft as part of a concerted rescue effort of approximately 80 personnel from the 920th RQW who rescued two German citizens in distress at sea July 7-8, 2017. The victim's vessel caught fire approximately 500 nautical miles off the east coast of southern Florida.
