Hit snow wall causing wing to hit ground and break while taxiing at McMurdo, Antarctica.
24 Feb 1971 [ w/o] 61-642 61- 2642 USAF 29 MAS C-130B Details
Written off after being damaged in rocket attack at Da Nang AB, South Vietnam. A single 122 mm rocket hit the aircraft fuselage. No one was killed in the attack and a few other C-130s were damaged. Aircraft had just returned from a medivac mission (903rd AEG) from the DMZ area to Da Nang. All crew and patients were off loaded before the rocket hit by minutes. Tail section was used to repair an AC-130. Some sources have this as February 21st.

Hit by 37mm shell but repaired.
Nov 1971 [ act] 55-044 55- 0044 USAF 16 SOS AC-130A Details
The propellers on two engines were shot out during a mission over Vietnam. Crew was able to land aircraft on two engines while a third one quite near landing. Aircraft was later shot down on March 28, 1972.
09 Nov 1971 [ w/o] XV216 66- 8566 RAF 24 sqn C-130K C.1 Details
Part of Exercise Coldstream, Callsign 'Chalk 4'. The aircraft crashed near the Meloria rocks, four miles west of Livorno with no survivors (5 aircrew, 1 British parachute jumping instructor & 46 Italian paratroopers inside).
12 Nov 1971 [ w/o] 69-578 69- 6578 USAF 61 TAS C-130E Details
Crashed on take-off due to fin stall from Little Rock AFB. Apparantly all but one person perished when the aircraft hit the ground. One loadmaster jumped from the paratroop door after it came to a stop.
20 Nov 1971 [ act] 130320 64- 17639 RCAF 435 TRS CC-130E AIB Report Details
Engine run up while parked at Resolute Bay Airport, North West Territory (now Nunavut) the port landing gear suffered a severe hydraulic leak. Before the parking break could be applied the aircraft rolled back and ice had built up causing gear to slightly retract. Relatively minor mishap with no injuries. Cause was deemed to be weather related.

Destroyed by fire on ground while being filled with liquid oxygen at Lake City, Florida. Some sources say this happened January 15, 1972.
04 Dec 1971 [ act] 148321 59- 5925 USNavy VX-6 LC-130F Details
Force landed at Care Four, Antarctica after two JATO bottle came off and struck the aircraft. The ten man crew were uninjured but had to live in survival shelters for 80 hours until the weather improve enough to allow a rescue. It had been buried in the snow for 17 years before repairs began.

Mid Air collision with Navy P-3 #153426 from VP-4 off the coast of Midway Island in 1971.
