6516th Test Squadron

20 Aug 1977 [act] 50751 USAF USAF 6516 TS F-16B

According the information above this aircraft was assigned to the 6516th TS in August 1977. But according the Air Force Historical Research Agency the 6516th TS was only activated in March 1989. Was there a different name for the test force in the early F-16 years?

Squadrons clarification for 75-0751

I was in the F-16 CTF at Edwards in 1983 in Bldg 1635. 75-0751 was a GD bird, referred to as "B1" because it was the first B model. The AF side didn't work 75-0751, 80-0550, 75-0746, or the XLs. I don't know who the owning organization was for the GD birds (maybe the 6510 TW or maybe bailed to GD?) but I was in the 6515 Test Support Squadron as a maintainer. 6515 TSS worked F-15, F-16, B-1, basically "contractor row". The 6516 Logistics Test Squadron was the B-2 support squadron, I joined that in Dec '89 after a special assignment in Nevada.
