USAF C-130B #61-0955 at Incirlik AB, Adana, Turkey on Dec. 15, 1965. I flew on this aircraft over the Black Sea as part of a volunteer aircrew searching for a USAF reconnaissance RB-57 that was missing. The C-130 pilot raised the upper rear cargo door so we could lay on the ramp to search for any wreckage.

This is the official version: A US Air Force RB-57F of the 7407 Support Squadron at Wiesbaden West Germany, was lost over the Black Sea, near Odessa. Pilot Lester L. Lackey and crew member Robert Yates were presumed killed. Recent investigations indicate that there might not have been any Soviet activity related to this loss. The crew probably perished from an oxygen system failure, since it took over an hour for the aircraft to spiral down from altitude and fall into the Black Sea. After 7 or 8 days spent searching for the aircraft, only small bits and pieces of wreckage were ever found. — at Incirlik Airbase, Adana, Turkey.
