19 Dec 2013 The C-130J Super Hercules program reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the 300th aircraft. The aircraft was ferried from the Lockheed Martins Marietta facility to the US Air Force.
30 Oct 1963 US Navy KC-130F #149798 was used for carrier suitability trials on the USS Forrestal making 29 touch and goes, and 21 landings and unassisted takeoffs just off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida. This C-130 made history as the largest aircraft to land and take-off from an aircraft carrier but never became operational.
27 May 2005 First known C-130 to reach 45,000 flight hours is Canadian CC-130E #130315.

20 Jul 1972 The first Belgian Air Force C-130 (#71-1797) delivered for service with N° 15 Air Transport Wing.
28 Oct 1960 The RCAF's first Lockheed C-130B is officially accepted at RCAF Station Uplands, to be delivered to No. 435 Squadron at Namao.
25 Oct 2013 Last operational flights of the the final two of 66 Hercules C-130K transport aircraft delivered to the RAF – Hercules C3As XV177, callsign “Reynard 1” and XV214 “Reynard 2”.
5 Apr 1996 Lockheed Martin test pilots Lyle Schaefer and Bob Price take the first C-130J Super Hercules aloft for the first time from Dobbins ARB in Marietta, Georgia. That aircraft, an extended fuselage length Super Hercules, will be delivered to the Royal Air Force after testing is completed.
12 Oct 1999 The U.S. Air Force took delivery of its first WC-130J aircraft, a special weather reconnaissance version of the new C-130J cargo plane.
2 Sep 1958 C-130A-II, #56-0528 of the USAF 7406th Support Squadron was shot down by four MiG-17 fighters when it flew into Soviet airspace over Armenia while on a SIGINT mission, with all 17 crew killed. This was the first operational C-130 hull loss.
19 Sep 1958 C-130A #56-0526 of the USAF (317th Troop Carrier Wing at Évreux AB, France), had a mid-air collision with a French Armée de l'Air Dassault Super Mystère over Paris, France.
20 May 1959 C-130A #57-0468 of the USAF (815th Troop Carrier Squadron, 463d Troop Carrier Wing), crashed at Ashiya, Japan when it lost control during landing with single-engine failure. One crew and nine ground personnel were killed.
1 Jul 2012 MAFFS-equipped Air Force C-130H, assigned to the 145th Airlift Wing, North Carolina ANG, Charlotte, crashed in southwest South Dakota while fighting the White Draw Fire, killing four crew and seriously injuring two.
9 Aug 1989 C-130H 74-1681, c/n 4654, of the 463d Tactical Airlift Wing, crashed while dropping M551 Sheridan tank at Fort Bragg, North Carolina
23 Feb 2009 An Algerian Air Force C-130 crashed, details not known.
