A loop is an OK maneuver for a trainer ( Military) or Fighter Jet , but not a cargo plane. In the first place a loop is a 4 "g" maneuver , which is one "g higher that the max of 3 "g''s allowable for the C-130 / L100 . In order to accomplish this the loop had to be done at 3 "g" 's ,which risks a stall at the top of the loop and could bring the pull -up close to the ground. I have pulled 3 "g" 's in C-130 at Edwards AFB as part of a test Program , but it was done to not get the plane anywhere near vertical.
In short this Retired Test Pilot says this was " not too smart ".
