Hello -

My name is Ernie White, a member of the McChord Air Museum Foundation. A few weeks ago we rolled out our C-130 (62-1789) from the McChord Field Paint Hangar re-dressed as s/n 63-7788 as she looked while assigned to the 36th TAS at McChord in 1978. The new 7788 has been restored inside and out backdating her with a SEA paint scheme.

Please visit our webpage http://www.mcchordairmuseum.org to read the restoration story and pictures.

Thanks !

Hi Ernie,
Welcome to the website. We posted some photos of the new scheme in this topic:

Preserved C-130 at McChord Air Museum - Vietnam scheme

Airmen from the 62nd Maintenance Squadron spent more than two months repainting C-130E #62-1789 in the Vietnam-era camouflage scheme. The aircraft was painted for the McChord Air Museum and will be on display in the McChord Air Park in the near future. (Courtesy photo)

Great looking scheme! :D

Ernie,

What a great project and fantastic looking Herc!!

Looking at the near-final and final shots, there is a slight difference in colors. Is this simply because of the lighting or camera white balance, or was some sort of transparent finishing layer added on top of the paint?
