Might need a big phonebooth for these 2.

The F-105 had more gun kills in 'Nam than all other US aircraft combined, and it was a bomber.

big phonebooth
Yeah, more like a telemarketer call center. I think a maneuvering fight between these two would probably look like the mating ritual of two sperm whales (is there such thing as a female sperm whale?....must be).
I believe most (not all) of the guys that got the 27.5 gun kills were ex-F-100 drivers who had overcome the mindset that they could turn inside a Cessna 150. These were really good drivers.
To be fair however, the SU-17/20/22s are credited with a C-130 & an A-37.
The winner(s) would be the guys on the ground that weren't being bombed while these two mixed it up.

Win at what? Bombing?
The F-105 is about a generation earlier than the Su-17 in timeline: late 50s design vs. late 60s design. And early Su-17s were quite crummy in their intended role of air-to-ground until the M3 and M4 versions of the late 70s early 80s made them competitive.
F-105 had much higher payload and range, and much higher practical payload and range given the use of in-flight refueling. They're not really comparable planes in concept, or otherwise, even if they were used for the same purpose. But F-105 was an amazing plane, especially given the time.

interesting comparison
we rarely think about it but in an actual war , a fight between 2 strike fighters or fighter-bombers is not entirely unheard of.Esp since these are the kind of aircraft most commonly deployed , in a big war esp over a small battlefield it is more than likely they can cross paths
I believe both f-105/su-17 can win depending on who is carrying an offensive load of weapons and who achieves surprise

"THE FIRST ATTACK AGAINST NORTH VIETNAMESE SA-2 MISSILE SITES DEVOLVED INTO A DEBACLE OF DUMMY TARGETS AND DOWNED AIRCRAFT, BUT IT FORCED MILITARY LEADERS TO FIND WAYS TO COUNTER THE NEW THREAT BY MARK CARLSONPHOTO: LOADED FOR BEAR A Republic F-105D carries a full conventional bomb load approaching 7 tons. On July 27, 1965, an F-105 strike force targeted two SA-2 missile sites with a mixed bag of napalm and cluster munitions.”
