And assuming they can't afford large numbers of those (or even small ones), there's no way the rubles are going to manifest to fund something as ambitious as this. At least with the rest of their projects they have on the drawing board...

IMO Russian strategic stealth bomber is waste of money, they maybe build some but I don't see reason for it at all, I would invest money in Tu-160 RCS reduction (it have reduced RCS not as B-1B but it is noticeable smaller RCS then bomber of its size).

China on other hand need 100% stealth bomber because it is surrounded.

PLAN has just started inducting H-6J (H-6K variant) a few months back. The H-6J is claimed to carry the 300-400km ranged YJ-12 anti-ship missile, which has a pointy head.

Those H-6's no doubt are the butt of many jokes. But as a carrier aircraft of hypersonic/advanced cruise missiles meant to kill carriers, could be quite deadly.

I agree a stealth bomber would be a waste for Russia, but necessary for China. This is just my opinion, but I think the H-20 is going to be the sleeper of China's stealth bunch...

While the YJ-12 isn't a hypersonic missile it's still no joke.

No change from the cold war days. CVBG CAP will still try to take down the bombers before they launch. With AEW and long ranged AAMs, H-6 whether J/G/Ms are manageable since these will be detected way before launch distance + intercept times. Something like the H-20 is maybe a bigger threat. The difficulty for PLAN, as mentioned probably a few hundreds times in the forum, is still real time detection and targeting of CVBGs. No target, no missile launch or wasted missile launch.
