Air Algeria L100-30 Crash
August 13, 2006 (by
Jonathan Somerville) -
Crew of three were killed when their Cargo L100 plunged 24,000 feet impacting the ground near Piacenza, Italy.
The aircraft was owned by Air Algeria and registered 7T-VHG which was Lockheed construction number 4880. A thunderstorm was near by but undetermined if that storm played a roll in the loss.
Air Algerie is the national carrier for Algeria and is mainly an airline company but has operated a small fleet of L100s since 1962. The L100’s have strictly been used as a general cargo aircraft for the airline, no passengers, although the 737 and A310 is used in both rolls.
