First received C-130A's in 1971 as the 711th Tactical Airlift Squadron and flew the type till 1975. July of 1975 became a Special Ops Squadron and converted to AC-130A's and flew the Gunship for 20 years, up to 1995 when converted to the MC-130E. Became an associate unit with the C-145A Skytruck.
