First received the HC-130 in 1975 as the 305th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron. Redesignated 305th Air Rescue Squadron on the first of April 1990 and flew the HC-130 until September 1, 1992 when disbanded. A year and a month later to the day, the squadron reactivated with the HH-60 Pave Hawk at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona.
