Mid-air collision with a C-27J from United States Army Special Operations Command Flight Company. Collision approximately 8 miles south of Mackall AAF, North Carolina. Both aircraft declared emergencies and landed safely, the C-27 to Mackall AAF and the C-130 to Pope AAF. The C-130 sustained damage to the leading edge of the right wing and number 4 engine.

The last remaining C-130H of the 440th AW #88-4404 taxis to the runway before departing Pope Army Airfield, for the last time, June 29, 2016. 440th AW maintainers and aircrew signed their names on #88-4404, the last C-130H aircraft in preparation for its final flyaway from Pope Army Airfield on June 29, 2016. The plane was the last of the 12 that the unit had owned at Pope before its inactivation. [USAF photo by 1st Lt. Justin Clark]
