After the issues with the oldest 54H60 and now the propeller barrels, what will it take to replace then all with the NP2000? Even if they are retired in a few years they will be spares.

Agree.
They can also take those upgraded planes and sell to other countries.
Big blue really doesn't like the C-130, special mission planes, yes; vanilla 130's, no.

Air Force Times
The Air Force has started to return some of its 116 grounded C-130H mobility aircraft to flying status but cautioned that the process for getting the remainder back in the air will be slow going. So far, two C-130Hs have been returned to service since the grounding began Sept. 27.

funny, the way it is written, especially with a field unit aircraft file photo in the article, makes it look and sound like it was SSgt Johnny, engine mechanic at Base X that was doing the improper etching when it was likley the depot mechanics overhauling the propellers that screwed things up.

Got to protect the unionized GS force. The mechanics etching the props would have done so after getting ok'd from management, who should have had an engineer ok the process.
