Yeah, in this case physics seems to be a problem even for GCAS as the aircraft was at very low altitude to begin with and didn't seem to have much energy for GCAS to work with. I guess GCAS can light up the AB to assist recovery but even that takes some short time to start really pushing the aircraft. In this case there was very little time between having no problems to crashing.
