One thing is certain...the F-20 Tigershark was a magnificent little fighter. Coupled with today's avionics and some RAM treatment, it could probably hold its own against most fighters.

No, it could not, and no, it was not.

With only 73 kN of thrust, it has much worse T/W ratio than most modern fighters. And with stable aerodynamic design, it has more induced drag than most modern fighters.

These together mean it has much worse sustained turn rate.

And that little nose cannot hold a big powerful radar.

And the fuel tanks are tiny.

The original Gripen has more powerful variant of the same engine, much more advanced aerodynamics, slightly bigger fuel tanks, capacity for better avionics - and without Meteor, would still clearly lose to modern F-16.

Is this the runway cratering munition, similar to what the Tornado used to carry? If so, this is a rarity indeed. Never seen it married to the F-20. Geez I thought the 30mm gun pod looked ugly...
