Regardless of whose missile(s) hit Poland, what will be the responce of NATO:

Strengthen the AD on the Polish border?
Send more modern AD to UKR?
Nothing?

+

Zelenskyy:

Russia has no intention to end the war.
10 million people are without power.
Exellent performance of NASAMS.

+

Ukrposhta, Ukrainian Postal Service, resumed the distribution of state pension in Kherson.

I bet it will include both more AD capability to Poland (Patriots most likely). Otherwise I don't think this will have that much effect over what would've been done otherwise.

He said that NASAMS managed to shoot down ten targets with ten launches. It definitely seems like both IRIS-T and NASAMS are very capable defences against cruise missiles and drones. Overall over 70 cruise missiles and 10 drones was claimed to have been shot down. I think Russian cruise missiles fly higher and likely have higher signatures than modern Western cruise missiles, making them easier to shoot down. I also bet that they don't have very good intel to avoid air defences.

Nice and clear video about cruise missile interception:
https://twitter.com/Havoc_Six/status/15 ... bJU9Fbtzzw

I think the interceptor looks like it's likely either some S-300 missile variant or Buk. It looks too large to be AMRAAM or IRIS-T or SA-8.

Stoltenberg:

Our preliminary analysis suggests that the incident was likely caused by a Ukrainian air defence missile fired to defend Ukrainian territory against Russian cruise missile attacks.

But let me be clear, this is not Ukraine's fault. Russia bears ultimate responsibility as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine.

At the same time, we have no indication that this incident was a result of a deliberate attack on NATO territory. And we have no indications that Russia is planning offensive military actions against the NATO allies,

We need many different systems to protect against cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, but also drones,

Speaking on whether Europe will strengthen its air defence in the wake of the attacks, he adds that "NATO has significantly increased" its presence in the eastern part of Europe and "this has increased air defence capabilities".

He adds that the defence alliance is mobilising more support when it comes to air defence in Europe.

Chinese official media published the G20 declaration, using the big words like 'war', 'aggression', 'condemning', 'unconditional withdrawal', 'the Charter of the United Nations'.

Which they avoided using so far. Specifically, using 'war' and 'aggression' without quotation marks was a big :nono: What does this signify?

Now this was very interesting press briefing:

https://www.defense.gov/News/Transcripts/Transcript/Article/3220910/secretary-of-defense-lloyd-j-austin-iii-and-army-general-mark-a-milley-chairman/

About Russian losses:
The Russian military is suffering tremendously. Leaders have been, you know, their leadership is really hurting bad. They've lost a lot of causalities, killed and wounded. They've lost -- I won't go over exact numbers because they're classified, but they've lost a tremendous amount of their tanks and their infantry fighting vehicles. They've lost a lot of their fourth and fifth-generation fighters and helicopters and so on and so forth.

The Russian military is really hurting bad. So, you want to negotiate at a time when you're at your strength and your opponent is at weakness. And it's possible, maybe that there'll be a political solution. All I'm -- all I'm saying is there's a possibility for it. That's all I'm saying.

About effectiveness of NASAMS:
I'm pleased to be able to report that the NASAMS air defense systems that we sent to Ukraine are now operational, and their performance so far has been very impressive. The NASAMS systems had a 100 percent success rate in intercepting Russian missiles as the Kremlin continues its ruthless bombardment of Ukraine, including yesterday's attacks. We're also working to secure more critical equipment to protect and repair Ukraine's energy infrastructure after Russia's indefensible attacks.

So it seems like modern Western AD systems are pretty damn effective at least against the current Russian cruise missiles.

WoW, fifth-generation fighters??
Does this mean that Russia have been using their (very few) Su-57's in Ukraine and some of these aircraft were actually lost in combat or perhaps Gen. Milley wanted to say 4.5 (four point fifth) generation instead of fifth-generation? :?

18 missiles fired today. 6 were shot down. Plus 5 Shaheds were shot down. A normal day.

+

On February 25

Lavrov:

We are ready for negotiations at any moment, as soon as the Armed Forces of Ukraine respond to the call from our president, stop their resistance and lay down their arms,

https://english.pravda.ru/news/russia/1 ... ine_talks/

On November 17

Peskov:

Public negotiations are hard to imagine in the first place. No talks can be held publicly, let alone negotiations in such a field. One thing is clear: Ukraine does not want to engage in talks, the special military operation marches on and its goals must be achieved,

If Washington wanted to, it could take our concerns into account and abandon its militaristic plans with regard to Ukraine, including attempts to flood Ukraine with weapons and so on. Washington is capable of doing all of this, if only it wanted to do so,

https://tass.com/politics/1538351

:lmao: The SMO is closing to the nine months mark. It has, for all intents and purposes, zero chance to achieve its objectives at this point. So why does it still keep going? Asking for more humiliations and severer penalties in the future? As mentioned before, the leadership is a bunch of corrupt cowards. They refuse to take responsibility of this monumental failure. They are trying to drag this as long as possible, and hope for the best. To undermine the support in every possible way, and somehow the West will bungle this.

Already there is talk about the weapon stock of NATO will dry up next year or the year after. So RUS pins its, best and last, hope on this grand attrition. If the West turns out to be outproduced by RUS, it deserves to fall.

I was wondering the exact same thing, but he definitely does say fourth and fifth generation fighters (that part at about 33:30)...

Of course that doesn't change the fact that he might've intended to say something else.
