Anything from a non-RT source?

The Syrian Air Defense Force controls four air defense corps, eleven air defense divisions and thirty-six air defense brigades, each with six SAM battalions. It is equipped with 650 static S-75 Dvina, S-125 Neva/Pechora and S-200 launchers, 200 mobile 2K12 Kub and Buk launchers and over 4,000 anti-aircraft guns ranging from 23mm to 100mm in caliber. There are also two independent 9K33 Osa SAM regiments, each with four batteries of 48 mobile SAMs.

It wouldn't be surprising if a somewhat modern SAM had the capability to shoot down common missiles. Where you need more sophisticated anti-missile systems is when you want to shoot down very fast ballistic missiles or stealthy/terrain-masking cruise missiles. My impression is that some ground-to-ground missiles are basically suicide drones. Note that Syria only shot down 2 out of 6.

Maybe I missed it but do we have any information about what those Israeli missiles were precisely?

Modern SAMs have anti ordnance capability.

This is one of th things 5th gen advocates have been trying to emphasize to the mouth breathers.

They still think modern IADs are checkers when it's Chess. It's become very complex

Cruise missile and HARM plinking won't do it anymore even targeting SAMS directly is going to be tougher

Hell, TOR was designed specifically to protect things like S-300/400 from HARM and LGB/JDAMs.

Correct. And with the cruise missile mania in Europe in the 1980s the Russians have been working on it ever since.

I don't know why people think we are the only folks who have a Phalanx/sea whizz/CWIS type system, and why our adversaries who recognize the huge advantage of western airpower, won't protect things that kill planes with protection from airplanes trying to kill them?

Planes cant do their job with SAMs afoot. So SAMs must be taken out. SAM people understand this so they Make SAMs hard to kill, mobile, redundant, connected, sophisticated, decentralized, concealable, and coordinated and finally actively and passively protected.

I'll see if i can find it but an F-22 pilot wrote a brutal few paragraphs about how modern systems work and it made me pucker

There's 0 evidence of an Israeli missile being shot down, neither in that video or elsewhere. That video just shows a SAM lifting off the ground and blowing up somewhere not too far.

As for what the Syrians have, there are S-300 batteries (both Syrian and Russian) in the vicinity as well as multiple Buk batteries. And yet for the past years the Israelis have been regularly bombing around Damascus with impunity, as this is certainly not the first time they have done so.
