(WXYZ) — The Yankee Air Museum said a U.S. Navy Blue Angel will be arriving at the museum and going down metro Detroit roads on Wednesday.

The F/A-18C Hornet is traveling from Pensacola, Fla. on its way to metro Detroit.

It will be part of the museum's aircraft collection, and this jet was the lead aircraft for the Blue Angels in the 2017 at the Thunder over Michigan Air Show.

The Yankee Air Museum wants everyone to remain calm if a United States Navy Blue Angel jet is racing down our roads tomorrow! The plane is headed to Willow Run Airport.

All of the F/A 18Cs are retired and the Blue Angels now fly F/A-18E Super Hornets.

The Yankee Air Museum is the latest museum to get a Blue Angel Legacy Hornet and it will be on display indefinitely.

Two semis are transporting the dismantled aircraft, and it will be re-assembled and on display by the weekend.

If so, probably ought to paint a number '1' on the tail(s) during reassembly.

Nice collection now, went thru there regularly with ConAir* back when all they had was a dingy looking old A-4. Although it looked better than a lot of the Kalitta 747s.

(*edit: ConAir pilot, not con.)
