Destroyed on the ground in a fire at Paulatuk, 320 kilometers east of Inuvik, North West Terrioties while unloading fuel.

Crashed after number four engine mount failed destroying number three engine and then structural failure of the wing about 360 kilometers east of Ankara, Turkey. All 28 people lost their lives.

Rear right wheel strut had lost locking nut at top which resulted in landing gear coming apart and dangling making it impossible to retract the landing gear and land safely.. After a couple of passes at Edmonton, Alberta airport the pilot landed as gently as possible and no further damage.

Shot down 93 kilometers north of Pebble Island with an AIM-9L Sidewinder and 30mm gun fire from Royal Navy Sea Harrier XZ451. Pilot of the Sea Harrier was Lt. N Ward based on HMS Invincible during the Falklands war. Ultimately it was the 30mm guns that did the damage when it severed one of the wing of the C-130 killing all seven on board. Earlier in the war, on May 29, 1982 a Hercules had dropped a bomb on the British tanker "British Wye." That bomb didn't detonate, but fear of the bombs dropped from an Argentina Hercules was enough to cause this aircraft to become a target.

Crashed on landing in bad weather 4 kilometers south of Attu, Aleutian Islands taking the lives of two crew.

Ditched after running out of fuel due to malfunctioning navigation system in Atlantic Ocean east of Cape May, New Jersey killing 5 of 13 on board.
16 Nov 1982 [ w/o] 130329 73- 1589 RCAF 435 TRS C-130H AIB Report Details
Crashed at CFB Edmonton, Alberta during LAPES mission after chute opened and the load did not clear the aircraft. Centre of gravity changed and the aircraft suddenly banked left and impacted the ground with all seven crew (six Canadians and one American) members killed.
