While landing at 3200 foot airstrip in darkness the aircraft hit an oil drum that was on top of a snow bank that was just beyond the end of the runway. The aircraft continued and landed without any more difficulty. Fortunately no one was injured. Damage was substantial but eventually repaired.

On final approach a portion of a blade de-icer heater cuff and part of the heater from propeller number 3 and separated from the bade and struck the ice protector shield on the starboard side of the fuselage causing damage. Cause was not determined but believed the result of vibration. Fortunately no injuries.

Crash landed near a Borden, Saskatchewan field after losing a forward cargo door inflight which resulted in structural damage due to explosive decompression. Fortunately no injuries. Aircraft may have been in process of a ferry flight to 408 Squadron. Struck off charge on October 12, 1966.

Crash after take-off only 2 miles North East of RCAF Station Trenton, Ontario after over 20 previous take-off's and landings for training. It has been speculated possibly due to elevator trim failure. Official report blames the left yoke trim switch failure due to design issues leading it to get stuck or seize in the nose down attitude. Pilot failed to take corrective actions to counter the change it attitude in enough time for a safe recovery. All six onboard were killed.

Minor damage was done to the aircraft when after departing it was found a part was missing from the left front wheel brakes. Pilot was informed mid flight and could not return to base as runway wasn't long enough with the brake problem and winds were high. Aircraft landed at another base and suffered some minor damage at landing that was easily repaired.

More crashes of RCAF C130s

1964 C130B 10304 crashed in a field in Saskatchewan after the forward cargo door blew off at 29 thousand feet. All survived, aircraftvwritten off.

1967 C130E crashed in Trenton while on a training mission. Forgot tail number.

1977 or 78, C130 E 130312 crashed in northern Quebec while on a SAR mission. All killed except the co-pilot and the FE.

1964 C130 crash

The aircraft had just left Rivers were it was being serviced. John Moore was the captain the door took out the two starboard engines ripped the top of the aircraft and took out number 3 and damaged number 4. How he did it is a Miri le but he landed the C130 in a mud field skidding to a stop Crazy good pilot
