Truly modified as XFC-130H but often referred to as YMC-130H. The only true YMC-130H was 74-1686 which received this designation in July of 1981. The aircraft had the installation of 30 externally mounted rockets. Eight forward-pointed ASROC rockets to help stop the C-130 in a very short space. Another eight downward-pointed rockets sourced from Shrike missiles. These were mounted on the fuselage above the main wheel wells to slow its descent. Eight rearward-pointed MK-56 missile rockets mounted on the lower rear fuselage for helping in short takeoff. Two ASROCs mounted at the rear of the tail to prevent it from striking the ground from potential over-rotation. Two Shrikes mounted rockets on each side in pairs on wing pylons to correct yaw.
