Became an airlift squadron in 1993 and began to receive the C-130E throughout 1993-4. In late 2003 the squadron deployed to Afghanistan under the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing. This included flights transporting Afghani President Hamid Karzai. Deployed again for the last six months of 2006 to Afghanistan. Converted to the KC-135R in September 2007.
