Hello,

I'm calling to all you C-130 fans and experts. I'm composing a history of aircraft 63-7872, a C-130E. Can anyone direct me or send me through here, a good listing of the history of aircraft 63-7872, a C-130E? I have some information, but would love to have more including any photos or patches.

Thanks much!!

Dale

What do you want to know about that aircraft?? I did crew that c-130 while it was deployed to the desert on 2003. It had been at the 182nd airlift wing in Peoria IL ANG from 1995 until around 2004 or so when they upgraded to h3s.

We have it listed as leaving Peoria in February 2006. Do you have an early more exact date? What month did the aircraft arrive in 2004.

Here is the history we have on this web site:

Stratoart,

I'm not sure what information you already have on the airframe, so let me know if you need some details on its time at Eglin as a gun testbed.

I suspect you do know its role there just due to the timing of your post, as it was recently dismantled and shipped out.

Here are three photos of it just happening to be used in an acillary security exercise (note the USSOCOM PEO-FW Det 1 "Blacksmiths" insignia):

And I'm going to assume you've found this basic stuff and conversation about it:

Good high-res photo on gun ramp at Eglin:

And the NINE great photos of mostly different assignments at http://www.c-130hercules.net/index.php? ... 9/&page=11 (AC 3942)

And this Baugher entry: 7872 (MSN 382-3942) appears to be permanently moored at weapons testing area at Eglin AFB, Florida in 2014.

Wait. I just found you already know very much about the airframe and with many recent photos of it. I just found your post: http://www.c-130hercules.net/index.php? ... ment-40125

So, uh, never mind! Sorry to waste your time.

Will send PM about a *very* small detail that pertains to its humanitarian role.

I was the Assistant Crew Chief on her when I was at McGuire AFB, NJ in 1966-67. She was assigned to to the 1611 ATW (MATS) later 438 OMS (MAC). She did a TDY to Chateauroux Air Depot, France during that time.
