Unknown (?) L100-30

Feel free to discuss anything here - as long as it is C-130 related.

N9183J.jpg

Hi All

Newbie - and first post to the forum!

Back in 1993, I was working for British Aerospace at Prestwick in Scotland. Amongst the civil registered L100-30s which transited through Prestwick was one with the tail number N9183J. I attach a pic of it taxiing out at PIK - the tail number is pretty clear.

I've never managed to establish an MSN for this aircraft - it doesn't appear in the online FAA aircraft register, and the various aircraft enthusiast publications and databases I've subscribed to over the years have been of no help.

Can anybody put me out of my misery???? :bang:

Yours aye
Simon
Dunfermline, Scotland

Definitely a Tepper Aviation (CIA) paint scheme. Photo is rare for sure.

This site refers to a N8183J

https://www.jetphotos.com/registration/N8183J

Perhaps it was N8183J and then became N9183J. The photos of the ones in this link that match your paint scheme, you cannot see the civil registration clearly.

That would make it c/n 4796.

Thanks Jon

Looking carefully at the original scan, the first number could well be an 8. So N8183J it is.

Cheers
Simon

Checking my logbook I flew LAC 4796 on an annual FAA checkride. I logged it by LAC No.

At one time or another, all L-100 Operators have worked the "Rapid Air Transport" contract. It is very lucrative , but demanding.
