I am a new member of this forum and have uploaded five photos to the "new photos" page that I took at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, from 1967 to 1969. These show some of the JC-130Bs flown by the 6593rd Test Squadron, 6594th Recovery Control Group, at Hickam. This was a secret squadron that was tasked with the aerial recovery of film canisters that had been ejected from our spy satellites. I have over 40 photos of this fleet of JC-130Bs that I would like to put in an album, but I don't know where to upload these to create a new album. Can someone advise me about this?

I had an old list of the Herks assigned to the 6593. My brother in law was a pilot there in the 70's.
B's 57-0526,0527,0528,0529,0713,0714,0716,0717,0750,0756,61-0962 and 963.
JHC-130H 64-14854,14857,14858
HC-130P 65-0992, 66-0223,0225.
They also had an HC-130N, but I think it was just a loaner 69-5832
Bob
There were 2 other B's that have been mentioned as snatch birds, but they may have been at Hill rather than Hickham

I've just joined the group and seen your image of a JC-130. Wonderful

I have just completed an article on the 6593 TS & 6594 TG for a magazine in the UK and need to illustrate it with some high quality images. Would you be interesting in supplying some of yours to me images for me? I need some of individual aircraft too. I am equally interested in the HC-130P and HH-53's that were utilized for the 'bucket' collection and rescue tasks

If you are interested please get back to me.

Kind Regards
Kevin W

I was assigned to the 6594 Test Group, Hickam AFB, Hi., from Sep 1973 thru Jul 1978 as the Assistant Flight Engineer NCOIC. As I recall the 6593 Test Squadron was assigned to Hill AFB, UT. We, at Hickam, were never referred to as the 6593 Test Squadron. The "Star Catchers" was the best assignment I had in my over 28 year Air Force career. Google "6594 Test Group" for more information and unit photos.

I probably have 90% of my flight test hours in 716 and 526, and was one of the crew who 'retired' 526 for good.
'Catch a Falling Star' was almost the most interesting mission these planes had in their lives.
There's knockoffs of a patch out there with 526 & 716 commemorated. They're all knockoffs because I only had 50 made, and I doubt more than the 1 I know about escaped into the wild. That one had the misfortune of falling into the hands of a radical geographer who published a book, and now ugly copies are everywhere. I won't post a pic of a real one but you can google "Rodeo Gal Patch" and find a copy easy enough.
If airplanes could talk, 526 would have a lot to say.....https://elementsofpower.blogspot.com/2011/10/lucky.html
