Canadian E Models
The last of the Canadian E models has been parked so I thought I’d try a recap. Canada had 24 E’s.
3 Preserved: 307 at Ottawa, 313 at Trenton, 328 at Greenwood
5 Write Offs: 309-1967, 312-1980, 318-1989, 321-1993, 322-1991
11 Scrapped: 306, 310, 311, 314, 316, 317, 319, 320, 324, 325, 326,
2 Stored at Abbotsford: 308, 327
1 Stored at Trenton: 323
1 Ground Trainer at Trenton: 315
1 Unknown 305 reported at Winnipeg ???
Any updates or corrections appreciated
Bob
BTW Canada had 4 B’s: 3 went to Columbia 301, 302, 303. 1 was a Write Off: 304 1966

Interesting note about C-130B , RCAF 10301 , LAC3572,N-4852. it was sold back to Lockheed to be used to transport C-5A critical parts between Marietta and Burbank to support construction of C-5A ship 0001. All the lockheed pilots took turns making this twice weekly trip. I made mine on July 7-8 1967.Giving credit to the Canadians it was a very clean and defect free airplane.

The three surviving B's were bought back by Lockheed as part of the deal to buy E's in 67
301 became N4652 later FAC1003 ditched in the Atlantic out of fuel.
302 N4653 later FAC1001 Still flying
303 N4654 later FAC1002 Crashed on the runway at Bogota on a traffic pattern ride.

I flew into Trenton frequently in the mid to late 70's and was impressed by the professionalism of the maintenance troops and how well they maintained their Herks. We had a 24/7 commitment and didn't get to fix every little oil leak and we found it funny that the first thing they did after we landed was to put drop pans under our engines. Didn't want us messing up their ramp. They were always helpful when we had a problem. Like I ssid, professionals.
