They've had many beauties in the "might have been" category. The Mirage 4000, Mirage G8, and Mirage F2 (think larger F1) come to mind.

This is the ACT 92 which eventually became the Rafale. At one point Dassault and Grumman looked into joint development.

Imagine rather than the Rafale and Super Hornet at joint jet?


Also apparently the Rafale was the 92nd prototype by dassault in 40 years when it first flew, in the almost 40 years since they have hardly had any. How different a company it become after their founders death.
