After the successful Iranian invasion of the Faw Peninsula in Feb 1986 .. The Iraqi AF begun attacking the Iranian troops stationed there ... This is one of their stories :
On March 28 1986 1130 hr , a pair of Su-22 from squadron 109 flying at 10,000 feet were directed to attack 5 Iranian boats carrying bridging equipments to the peninsula ... The Su-22 were armed with 128 (130mm) S5K AG heat seeking missiles each.
After seeing the boats and realizing that there was no immediate threat from an Iranian interceptor, the lead pilot decided to attack the boats with his wingman ... After the first run , the 2 Su-22 destroyed 3 boats but the lead pilot decided to go for another run ( against instructions ) to attack the remaining two boats ... By this time the Boat crews were alert and fired multiple MANPADs and AAA toward him and indeed he get hit by Heat seeking missile in his left wing and the engine caught fire .... The pilot decided to pull up to maximum altitude he can reach and go as far as he can from the threat area , he managed to reach 8000 feet altitude and went 3.7 nm away ( this was achieved in about 4 min. ) but by now the engine has stopped working and the pilot decided to eject over the sea ... His life jacket saved him in the water where he stayed for about 40 min. till the arrival of a Navy boat tipped to his location by his wingman whom he stayed flying over him in circles ... Later he get transported to his base by a helicopter.
Note : His wingman get killed later in different mission.

Ahem...

S-5K is an unguided rocket of Soviet design, calibre 57mm. It was fired from such pods like UB-16-57.

Calibre 128mm... wasn't it 127mm?

If yes, then you would have a 'special' reason to mention this sortie: it would cite deployment of one of old/disused R-3S missiles, taken out of service and then re-modelled (by Iraqis, and in Iraq) as air-to-ground rocket (guidance was taken out and replaced by an artillery warhead, so it was no 'heat-seeking missile' any more)...
F-Arba-Ashara!! Yalla, yalla!!
