And this is why I prefer the marines to have their aircraft on their own little carriers instead of on land.

The whole point of having land-base Marine aviation is to keep 'em as close to the ground grunts as possible so they can provide cover quickly. Is it risky? Yeah...it's risky. But it's better than the groundies being pinned down and having to wait a half hour air cover to show up.

This loss of assets is bad, to be sure. But lessons are being learned to prevent it from happening again.

That's a very expensive lesson.

The cost of 2 lives + 8 Harriers is quite the lesson.
