Sorry, when I added "other" to the poll. It somehow deleted two of the members votes for the F-35....

what is the point of such a vote in a very F-35 oriented forum? It's like running a poll asking whether India is a superpower or not on Indian Defence Forum.

Your missing the point....The poll isn't to crown a single winner. It's to find out what the majority really think???

The majority of F-16/35 forum members? I'm right on the point actually This poll would have as much value as on a Rafale blog or a Eurofighter commercial website, that'd be none.

Honestly, what is your problem??? Nobody said this was a scientific poll. I posted it to gauge what the majority of the members of "this forum think". Why??? Maybe because I value their opinion!
If, you don't like that. Then go find someplace else to play.......

Very true.
However, unless requirements don't take into account things like suvivability and per unit cost, it's a no-brainer among these contenders. The F-35 is cheaper (in some cases, a LOT cheaper) than any of the alternatives. It's CPFH is high(er) than many aircraft its replacing, but that number is only coming down. Survivability? No other aircraft on this list comes close. Interoperability with the rest of NATO? Ditto.
Lockheed Martin has simply built a better mouse trap. Simple as that really, and only politics can lead one to the conclusion that it's not the right aircraft for Finland (or Canada and others for that matter).

A lot of members here are biased, but I think the population stands out quite a bit compared to the average forum as the percentage of actual pilots, maintainers and people with actual related know-how (aerodynamics, radars...) is quite high.
Besides, the opinion of the public on these matters should not and does not matter as we're not privy to all the relevant information anyway; so why get up in arms?

Maybe our Finnish members can ask the same on their local defense forums?

On the largest local forum, F-35 is leading with 51.5% of the votes, Gripen E is second with 23.4%.

We all have some level of bias. Yet, in this case that hardly means the majority is wrong....

I see three members that selected "others".
Does anyone want to share their choice and the reasons why???

I did not vote for that, but not many real possibilities. I could see a case for F-16 Block 70 if F-35 wasn't available. Russian aircraft are out of the question and I really doubt we'd go for Chinese aircraft. KAI-FX is too troubled and might not see service ever. TAI TF-X is also not really a possible option for many reasons.
