27 Aug 1963 C-130A #56-0474, c/n 3082, of the 315th Air Division, burned at Naha Air Base, Okinawa, during refuelling.

October

30 Oct 1963 US Navy KC-130F #149798 was used for carrier suitability trials on the USS Forrestal making 29 touch and goes, and 21 landings and unassisted takeoffs just off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida. This C-130 made history as the largest aircraft to land and take-off from an aircraft carrier but never became operational.
