Nose gear collapsed during a landing on Arctic ice at DYEIII causing some major damage to the nose gear assemble and forward cargo compartment. The aircraft struck a ice ridge formed from wind.

Lost control on landing after an engine failure and crashed into barracks at Ashiya AB, Japan killing one crew in the aircraft and nine military ground personnel.
