I added a picture of 56-490 when it belonged to the 17th TCS - The Firebirds - the time was probably around 1965. Located at Elmendorf AFB, AK. The second from the right (looking at the picture) is my father - Bill DeBoe.

I was stationed at PATRICK AFB Cocoa Beach FL from June 1965 until may of 1968. I was a ground crew member on 56-490, later became air crew member as scanner. The aircraft was a voice relay bird during the early days of the Space program \. Supporting the Gemini and early Apollo missions. At times utilizing the STARS system, snagging data capsules during flight after the data capsule was ejected from the Space Craft, In late 68 or 69 She was converted into a Battle field illumination and later to a AC-130S gunship, I flew many missions out of Patrick, but while assigned to UBON RTAFB 16th SOS as an IO I never had a chance to fly with the Aircraft, She had always been a test bed for new and unusual operating systems things.
